  They want to make me an elder :-O

  this is the third elder that tells me that the body of elders will recommend me as an elder in the next visit of the co.. what do you think i should do?

  some facts:.

  i am still 'in' because of my family.i am ms.i am doing 10+ fake hours (well, some months it is fake), so they see my "spiritual" progress.-ootb.

  OOTB, you rock. How do you do it, keep up the appearance? Well, some have opined that it would be dishonest to accept, but you're already an MS. Plus, considering that the whole thing is a lie. . .the religion that is. . .I don't see the problem.

  Also, if you decline, they will begin to doubt your spirituality and motives, and that's what you're trying to avoid.

  You also make the good point, and I'd like to see too: Will the holy spirit appoint you!? And will the GB pray over your name and get good vibes or bad?!?!? Will the priest get a good reading from the urim and thummin on you? Will your tea leaves show promise?

  I have all these questions, and none of them will be answered unless you go for it. I want to know: ARE THINGS BOUND ON THE EARTH REALLY BOUND IN THE HEAVENS ALREADY. I just have to know.

  No Excuse to Shun Families - Almost Lost my Son Today

  i had such a shock today, its almost bizarre, my son was involved in an accident at work.

  he's an ironwoker, which means he works the high steel on skyscrapers and such.

  today he was working and tied his safety harness off to the cable as usual, and went to work.. lots of times they have to lean out and rely on that harness to keep them secure while they reach out to do whatever the hell it is they do (best mom's don't always know all), and today his dumbass bosses didn't have the cable attached on one end.

  Aw crap. I'm wordless to tell you how sick this is, and how happy I am (and my husband too, just read this to him) that you still have your son.

  as i ponder on how many we've lost, i can't ignore how much we've gained.

  those that are left behind, i feel sorry for, they'll never experience anything "real.".

  Great thread.

  I'm thankful that I no longer live with guilt. No guilt for the meetings I went to, because I didn't really want to go. No guilt for getting there late--we always worked until 6-630 and would arrive late consistently, but we thought we should go and were made to feel like losers for going late. I though being there counted?!?

  The constant guilt was painful emotionally, I'm grateful it's gone.

  Does paradise still seem attractive to you?

  do you think paradise, as depicted by the watchtower, an everlasting life praising jehovah and playing with what we now know as wild animals, not to mention cultivating a piece of land, is really a desirable place?

  bear in mind that there is no reference to science and that personal goals are non-existent..

  Great thread.

  Living a more solitary life, space and land, a few 'pets' to throw on the barbeque, some quiet. Those things we want. Gopher made a truly good explanation that living under a theocracy really means submitting ourselves to those who claim to represent that theocracy.

  We will make this life for ourselves and without having to thank an unknown power for not killing us.

  any former elders have an answer for me?

  so i was df'd for living with/having sex with my boyfriend for 3 years and then not ending the relationship and moving out within the week between the first meeting of confession and the second meeting where they tell me what their decision was.

  i did move out 3 months later with the intent of being reinstated over a period of time.

  well i couldn't cut off the relationship with my bf even though i did move out, so i married him after a year and then 2 weeks after that i slept with someone else.

  Hi Helricha.

  I'm not an elder or an ex-elder. . .those are my credentials. My sister was in nearly your exact situation 23 years ago, got df'd for complaining about her abusive husband. He got df'd for 'yelling' at her and 'possibly hitting' her. She left him for her sanity and met a fella and they got hooked on monkey phonics, if you know what I mean.

  She confided this to me years later, that while she had confessed it all to the elders and returned to her husband, they wouldn't consider her for reinstatement until she told the husband--even though she was NOT DF'd for adultery. She used your same logic, that since she was already 'out of Jehovah's favor' what she did outside didn't count against her in the organization. I was a hard-nosed pioneer at the time and I disagreed with her, until she said, 'I thought it was Jehovah that I need to confess to, not to men; it's Jehovah that grants forgiveness' and she was soooo right about that.

  There is no human who can mediate for us, and that is no misinterpretation.

  I may lose my wife because of Disfellowshipping

  have only been out of the organisation for 2 months and the wounds still run deep.

  particularly hard is the fact that my wife and 8 yr old son are now divided in our beliefs.

  we cannot go out as a family with our old friends like we use to.

  What a sucky situation. Garybuss makes a lot of sense. Problem I see is just plain from her comment, 'why didn't you quit smoking when the elders told you to', she wants them as her head, she respects their 'leadership' and that's totally unacceptable for them to take that place in her life AND for her to let them. So as my mother would say, 'maybe she can sleep with them too.'

  Somebody hurt my baby! :S

  once again someone hurt nancy, my little mini cooper.

  this time they popped the front driver side window, broke it all out, stole my tomtom gps, ripped apart the center console and tore up the 12 volt plug while ripping the gps power cable out.

  the police came out and did the whole fingerprint thing and got a few bits and pieces of some prints, but we won't know if anything will come of it.

  Work Christmas Party!!!!!!!! What are you doing????????

  this year we have a themed christmas party.. gangster/mafia...... what to wear.. was going to wear a flapper dress but hey who has a body to wear one of those...lol...... so its going to be a gangster moll outfit.

  hubby he is wearing a black suit with a black shirt and white tie.. will post pics of the night (16/12).. i have rumours that they give out 'trophies' for things that have happened throughout the year or if you have a 'quality' ( i know one girl who is very chatty and i think they are going to give her a set of those chatty teeth that you wind up).

  so what are you doing for your works christmas party???????.

  i just got back from a birthday lunch with mary, and it's true, there is going to be a jc formed because of my pagan and hedonistic ways.. she did give me one saving grace though.

  she said i could "approve" of the elders that are going to take me into the back room for a little "chat"!
